About Me
I’m Dan, though most people know me as Comrie. I’m a firm believer that life is better on wheels, whether I’m on a mountain bike or behind the wheel of my rig. My wife, Amanda, is my #1 supporter and my favorite adventure partner; 90% of the time, she’s right there in the passenger seat, and there’s nothing better than sharing the trail with her. I’m always down to meet new people, so don’t be a stranger!
The Journey: From Rocks to OverlandingI cut my teeth in the Jeep world, specifically wheeling a 1-ton JK. I spent years bashing off rocks and laughing about it (sometimes hitting the hard lines on purpose just for the fun of it). However, as life evolved, daily driving a built JK lost its charm.
A few years ago, I got married and realized a 5th Gen 4Runner fit our new chapter perfectly. The goal was simple: build a rig capable of handling technical trails and remote campsites, but reliable enough to drive to work every morning.
I love driving what I build. MTB has also been a lifelong passion for me; it pairs perfectly with camping, making every trip a "double-feature" of outdoor enjoyment.

Bucket list places 2026 

For wheeling and camping, Moab is the holy grail, followed by Alaska and the National Parks. For MTB, I’m eyeing Whistler and Bentonville.

What’s your best camping meal?

Bacon!!!! All of it. I’ve been known to polish off an entire pack without realizing it and somehow, I feel great afterward.

Tips for new campers

Buy what suits your specific needs. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, but your setup should reflect how you actually plan to spend your time.

Why I Get Out There ✌️

Life isn't always perfect, and we all deal with the daily grind. For me, the outdoors is where the noise fades away. It’s a chance to reset and forget the day-to-day worries, even if just for a weekend. Meeting people who share that same passion is the ultimate bonus.
